A guide to Seville holidays

Food & drink in Seville

There are a few must-try foods if you’re after an authentic foodie experience in Seville. Top of the list is salmorejo, a cold tomato-based soup. It’s a thicker, creamier version of gazpacho, and is perfect for Seville’s long, hot summer months. Grab some crusty bread and enjoy. Another local speciality you can’t leave without trying is Iberico ham. Produced just outside the city, you’ll find this tasty cured ham on every menu in Seville. Try it as part of a tapas platter with a glass of Rioja, the classic Spanish red wine. Be sure to sample a tostada or two on your city break. These toasted sandwiches can be found in Seville’s cafeterias, and they’re a cheap and satisfying way to fill up before seeing the sights. A local favourite is tostada de pringa, a slow-cooked pork sandwich that will have you coming back for seconds!

Authentic experiences in Seville

Home of flamenco, you’ll find dozens of places to see this classic Spanish dance in Seville. For an authentic experience, head to La Casa de la Memoria, a cultural centre in the heart of the city with intimate shows. It’s a small venue, so we recommend booking in advance. When it comes to dining like a local, a tapas crawl is the only way to go. Known as tapeo, this bar-hopping foodie adventure is how Sevillanos like to eat and socialise – plus, you get to sample more of the city’s mouth-watering bites, including chicharonnes (crispy pork) and mojama (salt-cured tuna). To hang out with the locals, spend a couple of hours in the Triana neighbourhood, just west of the river. There’s a buzzy vibe in this part of town, where you’ll find market halls, cozy bars, and the most beautiful churches in Seville. It’s also a great place for souvenirs – the area is known for ornate ceramic tiles and plates.
