Lloret de Mar holidays

Lloret de Mar’s location on the coast means that there is plenty of seafood on offer. It is also the ideal place to sample Catalan cuisine. If you enjoy seafood then you might like to try suquet which is a fish stew or alternatively there is escavilvada which is made with grilled vegetables including peppers. There is a range of cuisines available here which, of course, includes typical Spanish dishes such as paella and tapas. Make sure you head to the bodegas to try these bite-size portions alongside a cold glass of beer or wine. These are traditional restaurants in this area with a cosy wooden interior. The excellent nightlife ensures that there is a wide range of drinks available. You may like a traditional sangria but Lloret de Mar is known for its cocktails – especially Floridita Daiquiri which is made with white rum

This town is known for its beaches, four of which have been awarded the Blue Flag. Like much of the Wild Coast, it is rugged and unspoilt with crystal clear water that is ideal for snorkelling. Lloret Beach is the busiest one – it is situated in the main part of the resort, close to bars and restaurants. There are a variety of watersports including kayaking which will enable you to see a different view of the coastline. Alongside this popular beach, but separated from it by a wooded headland is Fenals Beach. Although only a short distance away, this stretch of sand is far quieter if you want to escape the crowds.If you are looking for a more secluded spot then Cala Boadella and Santa Cristina beach are ideal.

This town may be best known for its nightlife and beaches but there is far more to it. So when you aren’t relaxing on the sand or partying until the early hours, there is plenty to keep you entertained.

Water World: If you fancy a break from the beach and want an enjoyable way to cool down, then head for Water World. This is the best waterpark in the Costa Brava with more than 20 rides and pools for the whole family, set in beautiful parkland. Those looking to relax will enjoy the jacuzzis and wave pools. While thrillseekers will want to experience Kamikaces that drops you from a height of 77m at speeds of almost 40mph. If you are feeling really brave, there is also a bungee jump here.

Castell d’en Plaja: You can’t miss this castle, that dates back to 1935, it is situated next to Lloret Beach. Make sure you wear sturdy shoes as it is a steep climb to get up to it but it is well worth it when you reach the top. You won’t be able to go into the castle but you can admire it from the outside and enjoy the views out to sea. This is the perfect place to head for sunset or sunrise – the changing colours are spectacular from up here.
