Rincon de Diego may not have a Michelin star, but it definitely deserves one with its innovative dishes including melt-in-your-mouth lamb shank and boiled shellfish. For amazing pizzas at affordable prices, the always busy Zebra Pizzeria is a must-visit. And don’t forget to taste some of the finest wines Cambrils has to offer with a trip to Clos Barenys Winery.

As part of Costa Dorada, which has been nicknamed the ‘Golden Coast’ with over 150 miles of glorious shoreline to call its own, Cambrils is a seaside heaven. With fine sand stretching for 9km, the coast is divided into numerous beach stops. Playa La Riera is the smallest out of the lot, but the most central if you don’t want to wander far. In terms of popularity, Playa del Regueral sees a good share of visitors, who head here to laze along its vast length, get stuck into its watersport action and relax at its handy shoreside bar. Spots like Playa de la Llosa and Playa del Esquiro are great options too if you want to escape the crowds with enough amenities promising comfortable days along on the sand.

As a traditional fishing village, you won’t be surprised to discover that most of its action is centred around its harbour area. Beaches come in abundance as do restaurants, not to mention you’re close to major attractions such as theme parks and waterparks when you need an injection of fun or you’re holidaying as a family.

Check out the Port Tower: Defending the harbour, you can’t miss the resort’s 17th century port tower. Originally built to protect the town from pirate attacks, it’s now considered a landmark and is often admired for its attractive appearance. After various different names and restoration work, it is now part of the Cambrils Museum of History, with pop-up exhibitions open to the public, most of which are related to the town’s maritime past. From the top the views of the Mediterranean are a sight to behold, so if you’re looking for unbeatable vistas of the harbour, this is just the spot.

Enjoy a thrilling day in PortAventura: Thrill-seekers will be jumping for joy when they realise they’re under 20 minutes down the road from PortAventura, which is considered the best theme park in Spain. Spread across 105 acres and divided into six areas with Mexico, Polynesia and China among its themes, it’s a fun-filled day out. The park has an impressive collection of attractions with 41 in total. Dragon Khan, a loop-filled coaster, Hurakan Condor, a drop ride and Tutuki Splash, a water flume are among its exhilarating highlights. The parks also put on around 40 performances daily, while Salou’s newest addition Ferrari Land is just next door.
