A guide to Florence holidays

Food & drink in Florence

The best way to do a holiday is always to eat the top local dishes, and although Italy is famed for pasta, Bistecca Fiorentina is one of their more popular meals. Although it’s steak first and foremost, it’s a particular cut of meat that is increasingly popular with the people of Florence. If you’re looking for something a little less formal, Florence has a growing supply of street food available on almost every corner. One dish, Lampredotto, divides the locals, with many either loving it, or hating it. A sandwich made with tripe (intestines) boiled in broth and seasoned definitely leaves it up for debate – but why not give it a go? To finish, it’s worth heading to a gelato shop, because no one does it like Florence. Although Italy is famous for gelato, Florence has some of the best in the country. With a wide assortment of flavours, you’re likely to find something that will be perfect for your tastebuds.
