Besides diving, beach-goers can take full advantage of pedal boats and kayaks when they want do some exploring of their own above the ocean’s surface.

Moraitika may not be one of Corfu’s biggest resorts, but there’s plenty going on to fill your holiday itinerary. Come sunset, there’s a good choice of restaurants and bars worth sampling, while shops, a beach and Roman ruins keep your days busy – this low-key village has mass appeal. And when you want to see what’s going on in your surroundings, boats trips and buses are waiting to take you to nearby hotspots such as Messonghi, Agios Ioannis and Corfu Town.

Explore Roman ruins in Ano Moraitika: If it’s tradition you’re after, it doesn’t get much more antique than Ano Moraitika. Located just above the main road sits this original village, where houses and tavernas remain unchanged and a sense of serenity fills the streets. This is a great place to discover the island’s past with old-school markets providing an authentic shopping experience. In terms of attractions, there’s a historic church with fantastic views out over the coastline and the remains of a Roman bath.

Discover the charms of nearby Messonghi: Just over the river, you’ll find the resort of Messonghi. Less developed than Moraitika, you’ll be welcomed by the smell of ripe olive trees and a backdrop of verdant green hills. This laid-back alternative offers some peace away from the island’s hustle and bustle. Equipped with a golden sand beach and a seafront filled with local tavernas, it’s the perfect stop for tranquil beach days and is often favoured by families for this reason.
