A guide to Gouvia holidays

Food & drink in Gouvia

Whether you’re on an all inclusive holiday or you prefer the flexibility of self catering, Gouvia’s food offerings are delicious. Fresh and simple ingredients take centre stage here with produce such as honey, olive oil and feta cheese featuring on most menus. Gouvia’s marina area is full of eating options, and being so close to the water means you can tuck in to the freshest fish straight from the ocean. Alongside Greek favourites like moussaka and gyros, you’ll also come across delicacies which are unique to Corfu. Pastitada has become one of the island’s most recognised dishes. Made from veal and sauteed with garlic, spices and onions – this tasty combination makes for a savoury delight. Enjoy a mouth-watering glass of wine with your meal, or say yamas with a shot of Ouzo, the country’s custom drink. If you’re not a fan of its strong aniseed flavour, try the local Metaxa – the Greek’s answer to a liquid dessert.
