Boston is one of the oldest cities in the United States, founded on the Shawmut Peninsula in 1630 by Puritan settlers from England. It was the scene of several key events of the American Revolution, such as the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party. Make sure you explore some of Boston’s fine museums, visit the USS Constitution (launched in 1797 and the world’s oldest commissioned naval vessel still afloat) and old neighbourhoods. But you can’t claim to have experienced real Boston culture unless you’ve watched a Red Sox game from the bleachers!
Food & drink in Boston
When in Boston, be advised to eat as much Local seafood specialties as possible, including the ‘sacred cod,’ fresh steamed lobster, oysters on the half-shell and thick, creamy chowder. You can eat seafood all round the city, but especially in the fish-centered Seaport District, where it’s accompanied by spectacular harbour views. The creatures of the sea should be your top priority, but don’t miss the chance to devour delectable pasta in the North End and to sample diverse Asian dishes in Chinatown.
